2008 MITX Award Finalist – Educational Institution

Vermont Law School (VLS) produces some of the country's top environmental and social justice lawyers, but that's not all they're about. Located deep in rural Vermont, VLS's challenge is to attract a committed and passionate student body interested in a range of legal studies. The school partnered with mediumbold to redesign its website to better reflect its unique characteristics and to give prospective students a vivid impression of living and studying at VLS. In addition to an IA and design overhaul, the project required the implementation of a robust back-end system that would improve business logic and integrate a CMS with extensive workflow.

We developed a web strategy through the analysis of its users, peer organizations, key stakeholders, and current site structure, and laid the groundwork for the visual and technical design of the site. The new site's design and structure prioritize the needs of its primary user group—prospective students—to meet an organizational goal of improving recruitment and conversion of qualified candidates. mediumbold leveraged the core set of CMS tools of software-provider Ingeniux and customized them to meet the administrative and maintenance needs of VLS. The site is ADA compliant and accessible to mobile users, providing access to all in support of "Law for the Community and the World."
